Executive Summary
The brushfire poll conducted June 6-8 with 601 likely Republican Primary voters
shows Everett Rice enjoys both superior name ID and a sizeable lead in the
upcoming 2012 GOP Primary for Pinellas Sheriff (in a potential match up with
Bob Gualtieri). Consider the following:
-
Among likely GOP voters, Everett Rice enjoys a healthy 38% to 8% positive to
negative ratio in nameidentification (or nearly 4:1) including total name
awareness of 81%. In comparison, only 4% of Republicans say they have a favorable
opinion of Bob Gualtieri (6% are unfavorable), while a combined 90% either have
no opinion of Gualtieri or never before heard the name.
-
If the 2012 Republican Primary for Pinellas Sheriff were being held today, in
a hypothetical match-up with the two candidates Rice receives 52% of the vote
compared to 9% for Gualtieri; 35% say they are undecided and 3% refuse to answer.
This wide margin for Everett Rice strongly suggests he is well-positioned
to win the GOP nomination in next year’s GOP Primary.
Methodology:
This survey was commissioned by Everett Rice for Sheriff and conducted June 6-8, 2011
by Voter Survey Service. Calls were automated using our IVR (Interactive Voice Response)
software, and voters were contacted using a pre-recorded set of questions instructing
voters to complete the survey by pressing their telephone key pads to score their answers.
The universe for the poll includes Republican voters only with a history of voting in
past primary elections (2008 and 2010). A voter screen was also used to filter out
registered Democrats, Independents and other voters. The margin of error for a sample
size of 601 interviews is +/-4.0% at the 95% confidence level.
